There has been another instance of a safe haven baby in Iowa.
The state department of human services is reporting a baby was put into safe haven custody earlier this month. Spokeswoman Amy McCoy says a healthy boy was brought to a medical center August 13 where a person asked that the child be covered under the safe haven law.
It's the 20th time since its creation that the law has been used which allows a parent or responsible adult to give up a child no questions asked within 14 days of birth.
A hearing will be held in a month to terminate parental rights and adoption efforts are underway. All previous safe haven babies were adopted.
The law was created in 2001 after a month killed her newborn after a home delivery.
