(Des Moines) Iowa Environmental Protection Commission Tuesday unanimously approving proposed changes in regulations for concentrated animal feeding operations or CAFO's.
Members of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement calling for commissioners involved with livestock production to recuse themselves from the vote, but, the board ignored that suggestion. C-C-I also wanted a tougher "three strikes and you're out" provision for habitual violaters.
But, farmers, producers' associations and other farm groups claim they are already "good stewards of the land". And, that total manure spillage based on the millions of gallons produced are actually a remote possibility.
